Aaron Anthony Wohl

Aaron Anthony Wohl, a native of Perrine, Florida, has cultivated a life rich in service, knowledge, and adventure. His aviation journey began in his teenage years, working at a pet store in Kendall to fund his flying lessons, ultimately earning his private pilot’s license at 17. Simultaneously, he gained medical experience as an emergency room technician, working alongside his father, a nurse in the same department. His academic prowess shone through, leading him to graduate Magna cum Laude with a B.S. in Biology from Florida International University in 1998. He excelled in the medical field, graduating in the top 10% of his class from the University of Florida College of Medicine in 2001 and earning the “Resident of the Year” award in 2004 during his Chief Residency at Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC).

His passion for teaching led him to serve as an assistant clinical professor in emergency medicine at Shands UF in Gainesville before he transitioned to community emergency medicine in Fort Myers. In Fort Myers, he has been a dedicated provider of community emergency medicine since 2005. His commitment to addressing the opioid crisis became evident in 2008 when he worked with fellow emergency providers to establish guidelines aimed at reducing prescription opioid abuse.

He has been a vocal advocate for increased access to Naloxone, a crucial antidote for opioid overdoses, leading to the establishment of a naloxone distribution program in 2015 and the development of a Buprenorphine induction protocol from the emergency department in 2018. His proactive approach has significantly benefited his local community and his professional peers. Aaron is also a strong advocate for the rights of employed emergency physicians, ensuring their voices are heard and due process is maintained, especially when patient care conflicts with hospital administration interests.
